2004 Ford Focus WRC8
Built for Ford Racing by McLaren Development, this 2004 “Sema Show Car” was one of only two initially produced. It is believed that the second car was dismantled or destroyed by factory.
The WRC-inspired theme comes directly from Ford Rallye Sport, the team that develops and manages Ford’s WRC racing effort. Fitted with O.Z. five-spoke wheels, RS suspension, cooled Brembo brake package, full completion-spec interior/cage, carbon fibre panels and much more.
Powered by a 5.0L “Cammer” producing 420hp, with Tremec 5 speed transmission with rear wheel drive by a ford 9″ rear differential, this car is not for the faint-hearted.
The bodywork and graphics are identical to the WRC Focus RS rally cars developed by Wings West. In 2005-2006 the Focus was used by Ford as a “Drift” car in drift exhibitions and was fitted with an adjustable hydraulic hand braking system.
It is only when you inspect the vehicle that you realise the extent to which Mclaren modified the vehicle to Ford specification, not to mention the work undergone to neatly fit the Nascar inspired Cammer engine into the engine compartment. It is a vehicle that needs to be seen to believed, a true one off.
Dan Davis, Director of Ford Racing: “With this pocket rocket package, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this out at all kinds of events, from drag races to autocross to drifting events.”
Since 2007, the WRC8 has been a part of a large private collection, housed indoors, out of public view. It has a total mileage of 350 miles used purely for show whilst owned by Ford, so this vehicle really is as new.
Here is a rare opportunity to own an authentic Ford factory-built racer, ready to compete in a plethora of events right out of the box, or preserve as-is.
